ZF Steering Systems GmbH (ZFLS) is a 50:50 Joint Venture by Robert Bosch GmbH and ZF Friedrichshafen AG. The company was founded on 1st January 1999. ZF Steering Systems develops, produces and sells steering technology for passenger cars and commercial vehicles. The product range consists of both complete steering systems, including steering columns and steering pumps, as well as components such as valves, outer ball joints and steering shafts. ZF Steering Systems is a leader in technology and innovation in the steering gear field, and thus an important partner for automotive manufacturers world-wide.
The company headquarters are located in Schwäbisch Gmünd. Apart from further domestic plants in Berlin und Bietigheim and the ZF Lenksysteme Nacam GmbH subsidiary in Bremen, ZFLS is present in 15 other locations in ten different foreign countries. The geographic focus is centred on Europe, North and South America, and Asia. ZF Steering Systems employed over 9,000 associates world-wide in 2005.
