Who We Are
Bosch founded its first trading office in China as early as 1909. In 1926, the first car service workshop opened in Shanghai. Today, all Bosch business sectors are present in China: Automotive Technology, Industrial Technology and Consumer Goods and Building Technology. The company operates 44 legal entities in China and has a holding company in Shanghai. Consolidated sales in China reached 2.2 billion euros in 2008. Some 20,200 Bosch associates in all legal entities and facilities are committed to bringing to Chinese customers the latest technology as well as the most reliable services to help improve their quality of life. |

Three Business Sectors

Automotive Technology
Automotive Technology is the largest Bosch business sector. In 2008, it generated some 59 percent of total group sales. Despite the global automotive industry downturn, Bosch China’s automotive technology business continued its growth path in 2008, with 8,660 associates generating sales of 1.3 billion euros.
Bosch continues its efforts to develop clean and energy saving automotive technologies locally in China. Bosch also consistently strives to improve automotive safety with systems such as ABS and ESP®. In cooperation with local partners and the Chinese government, the company also helps raise awareness of road safety. |

Industrial Technology
Bosch activities in the Industrial Technology business sector include automation technology, packaging technology, and solar energy technologies. In 2008, 2,918 associates in Bosch China’s industrial technology operations generated sales of 449 million euros.
The Bosch Rexroth subsidiary manufactures all major technologies for machine drive, control, and motion applications – hydraulics, electrics, mechanics, and pneumatics. Moreover, Bosch continues to expand its activities in the area of renewable energies. In packaging technology, Bosch specializes in machinery and lines for the confectionery, foodstuffs, and pharmaceuticals industries. |

Consumer Goods and Building Technology
In its Consumer Goods and Building Technology business sector, Bosch operates in the areas of power tools, heating technology, security systems and household appliances. In Bosch China’s consumer goods and building technology operations, 8,188 associates generated sales of 429 million euros in fiscal 2008. |
