Who We Are
Bosch founded its first trading office in China as early as 1909. In 1926, the first car service workshop opened in Shanghai. Today, all of the Bosch business sectors are present in China: Automotive and Industrial Technology, Consumer Goods and Building Technology. The company operates via a holding company in Shanghai, 14 subsidiaries, seven joint ventures, and six trading companies. 2006 consolidated sales in China reached 1.3 billion euros. Up to 2005, Bosch had invested around 620 million euros in China and between 2006 and 2008 it will invest a further 620 million euros. Bosch employees are committed to bringing to the Chinese customers the latest technology as well as the most reliable services to help improve their quality of life. |

The strong relationship between Bosch and China dates back to the turn of the century, with business contacts recorded as early as 1909 - just 23 years after Robert Bosch opened his first workshop in Germany. In 1926, Bosch established the first automotive service station in Shanghai and have offered high quality service and autoparts to the growing Chinese automobile market ever since.

Bosch caters to the areas of consumer goods and building technology with its Power Tool, Thermotechnology, and Security Systems divisions, as well as with its Household Appliances Business within the BSH Bosch and Siemens Hausgerate GmbH joint venture. In 2007, our Consumer Goods and Building Technology business sectore generated sales totaling 11.7 billion euros. |

In 2007, our Industrial Technology business sector generated sales totaling 6.0 billion euros. A total of 38,086 associates work for Bosch worldwide in the areas of automation technology, metals technology, and packaging technology. |
