Who We Are
Robert Bosch: The Man (1861-1942)

Robert Bosch, a visionary entrepreneur was one of the industry's pioneers. His commitment to excellence enabled him to constantly refine and perfect his products, to meet customers' expectations as well as simplify their lives.

Since the company's inception, the Bosch brand name has been synonymous with quality, cost efficiency and social responsibility.

In 1886, at age 25, Robert Bosch opened his first precision mechanics and electrical engineering workshop. Shortly after, he specialized in ignition systems for internal-combustion engines - 'the problem of problems' according to Carl Benz of Mercedes Benz fame - and registered one of his most successful patents. The invention of the high-tension magneto was a milestone in Bosch's career and launched him on the road to fame. The stylized ignition coil anchor, is still today part of the Bosch logo.

"I've always been guided by the principle that it's better to lose money than to lose trust. The inviolability of what I promise, faith in the value of my products and in my word have always been more important to me than a quick profit." Robert Bosch (1918)
