- Bosch establishes new company through takeover of assets from long-term partner CNAIC Changdian
- CNAIC Changdian to supply products to new company and benefit from continued utilization of Bosch’s advanced technology standard
(December 1st, 2004 – Changsha) Today, Robert Bosch GmbH confirmed that its recently established wholly owned subsidiary Bosch Automotive Products (Changsha), China, Co. Ltd., will take over the complete business for automotive starters and alternators from their long-term licensee CNAIC Changdian Co. Ltd. in Changsha, Hunan. Bosch Automotive Products (Changsha) will become the main operation of Bosch Energy and Body Systems Division in China and will employ approx. 500 people transferred from CNAIC Changdian. The number of employees will double until 2007. Until November 2005, Bosch Automotive Products (Changsha) will complete the construction of a new factory at Changsha National Economic and Development Zone where small motors shall be produced. Investments total to 60 million euro until 2007.
For over 20 years, Bosch China has worked in successful partnership with CNAIC Changdian, currently the largest manufacturer of automotive starters and alternators in China. “Establishment of our new subsidiary, Bosch Automotive Products (Changsha), is an opportunity for both Bosch and CNAIC Changdian to continue to strengthen as well as benefit from our long-term collaborative partnership built over the last two decades. This is Bosch’s largest investment in mid-China, further proof of our commitment to the Chinese market and to working with the Chinese government to achieve their aim to support growth in the region” said Mr. Peter Pang, President of Bosch (China) Investment Ltd. “We hope that not only CNAIC Changdian will benefit from supplying parts to Bosch Automotive Products (Changsha), but also that other local suppliers as well as the economy in general will benefit from the project” he added.
According to Mr. Guenther Gauss, Executive Vice President of Bosch Energy and Body Systems Division, Bosch’s impressive expansion in mid-China is the only way to satisfy growing customer needs and demand. “The automobile industry is changing rapidly all over the world, and here in China it is evolving faster than anywhere else. Bosch has a leading position in the worldwide industry and we are determined to maintain that position in China. The establishment of Bosch Automotive Products (Changsha) is one way in which we can achieve our ambitious goals” he explained.
Bosch’s Energy and Body Systems Division covers the entire sector of vehicle electrical systems via its worldwide development, manufacture and distribution of starters, alternators, control units for body electronics and mechatronic drives as well as wiper systems.
