Zhuhai, China, November 12th – As the last race of 2011 Intercontinental Le Mans Cup (ILMC), the 6 Hours of Zhuhai took place in Zhuhai International Circuit. Top teams equipped with the latest diesel technology showcased themselves in the fierce races for speed and endurance. At the same time, Bosch Clean Diesel Tour, the largest nationwide tour showcasing clean diesel technology in China stopped in Zhuhai, offering a lively opportunity for visitors to gain insight of clean diesel technology and its "clean, economical and powerful" benefits.
As one of the top three car races in the world, the Le Mans are famous for the tough tests on speed and endurance, and it has become one of the best platforms for diesel technology to demonstrate its benefits of high-torque output and low fuel-consumption. Since 2006, the 24 hours of Le Mans have been won by cars equipped with advanced clean diesel technology successively.
Bosch's common rail technology is one of the core technologies that supported the diesel cars to win the champion, and it is a worldwide standard now. Common Rail System is a fully electronic controlled high-pressure injection system that is able to optimize the process of fuel distribution and combustion and so to improve both the efficiency and the reduction of exhaust emissions substantially. Besides that, Bosch has also committed itself to developing the downsizing of engines, which further promoted the energy saving in car races. Being of much smaller displacement than the engines previously used in Le Mans, the champion car won the 24h race in 2011 with a downsized 3.7 V6 turbo diesel engine.
Currently, cars equipped with clean diesel engine are of a reduction of up to 30% fuel consumption and 25% CO2 emission while achieving a 50% higher torque compared to gasoline engine. In order to demonstrate the advantages of clean diesel technology's environmental benefits to the Chinese public, and to let the whole society get better understanding on clean diesel's advantages, Bosch kicked-off the first and also the largest nationwide tour focused on the clean diesel technology in China under the slogan of "Experience Clean Diesel Now", and Zhuhai is the fourth stop. The innovative mobile exhibition unit comprehensively showed the clean diesel's innovations and benefits. At the same time, a fleet of four domestic Diesel SUVs is accumulating around 30,000 km in six months and challenging different climates and road conditions in China. This time in Zhuhai station, the latest data till has been reported to the mobile exhibition unit.
