Bosch Contributes to the “German and China—Moving Ahead Together” initiative by Hosting a “Sustainable Urban Mobility” Symposium

Nanjing , China November 5, 2007 – As part of the “ Germany and China – Moving Ahead Together” initiative in Nanjing, Bosch China is hosting a symposium with the theme “Sustainable Urban Development — Urban Mobility” today at Grand Metropark Hotel. In Nanjing Bosch also supported the “Germany and China – Moving Ahead Together” initiative by setting up a pavilion in the Germany Esplanade displaying the latest innovative technology from Bosch like Night Vision Road Safety technology, Autodome Security Systems technology, Gearboxes for wind energy turbines and “Super 15' Washer” washing machine and so on. All of these can improve the quality of people's life in China.

“ Germany and China – Moving Ahead Together” is under the joint patronage of the Federal President of Germany Horst Koehler and the President of the People's Republic of China Hu Jintao. In 2006, the program was jointly launched f by the Federal Chancellor of Germany Dr. Angela Merkel and the Premier of the People's Republic of China Wen Jiabao. Nanjing was chosen as the first city to host the German Week event which started on October 19 th, 2007.

“Bosch is very pleased to take part in the ‘Germany and China – Moving Ahead Together' program,” said Dr. Rudolf Colm, Member of the Board of Management of the Bosch Group responsible for the coordination of company activities in the Asia-Pacific region. “The Bosch pavilion and the symposium organized by Bosch in Nanjing express our commitment to enhance the quality of people's life in China with innovative technologies. The Bosch Pavilion demonstrates how automotive safety and fuel saving technologies as well as the technologies to harness renewable energy and to save energy can improve the quality of people's life.”

Started from October 19 th to October 27 th, 2007 the exhibition of Bosch products and technologies was held in the pavilion in the German Esplanade in the down town area of Nanjing with other leading German companies. Bosch's innovative products and services of the business units were displayed in three areas. In the first, the Driving area the latest state of the art Road Safety Technology including Night Vision and Energy Saving Technology such as clean Green Diesel Technology were presented In the second, the Living area Bosch showcased state of the art Security Systems, Wind Energy Technology and Power Tools. In the third, the Food and Clothing area innovative and stylish CCTV award winning Household Appliances and reliable Gas wall-hung Boilers were displayed.

The pavilion attracted thousands of visitors and Government Officials. Mr. Ernst Pfister, the Minister for Economic Affairs of Germany's Federal States of Baden Wuerttemberg, the German Ambassador Dr. Michael Schaefer and Dr. Wolfgang Roehr, Special Ambassador for the “ Germany and China – Moving Ahead Together”, have all visited the Bosch pavilion and experienced Bosch Innovative Technology for Life.

Bosch Symposium Demonstrates Commitment to Sustainable Urban Development

Around 200 delegates from the Jiangsu Government, Industry, Associations and Media are gathering on November 5 th 2007 at the symposium organized by Bosch on Sustainable Urban Mobility. Topics such as “Safe, Intelligent, Environmentally Friendly and Sustainable Mobility” as well as “Modern Public Transport” will be addressed.

During the symposium Bosch is presenting the latest intelligent Road Safety Technology and an extensive Bosch Car Service in China . Bosch is also addressing how its common rail diesel injection technology can improve fuel efficiency by 30 percent in public transport allowing for a reduction of greenhouse gases by 25 percent.

“As China's cities continue to grow rapidly, public attention will increasingly concentrate on the issue of urban development. This symposium clearly demonstrates Bosch commitment to the long-term sustainable development of China. Bosch is dedicated to invent Safe, Clean, Energy Saving Technologies in a scientific way.
