Beijing, November 28, 2007 — Bosch, a leading global supplier of automotive technology, participated in the 2007 China International Auto Parts Expo Summit Forum which precedes the opening of the first China International Auto Parts Expo (CIAPE) on November 29 th, 2007. More than 400 delegates from government, international and domestic automotive industry attended the Forum organized by the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) and the Society of Automotive Engineers of China (SAEC) in Beijing's Great Hall of the People. Keynote speech from the senior official from the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) opened the Forum.
As one of the keynote speakers Peter Pang, President of Bosch China highlighted Bosch's investment in R&D will reach around 3.5 billion Euros this year. Most of it is being spent on the 5 main areas of innovation for the automotive industry. The R&D investment will remain high in the future.
These latest global innovations will be applied in China to benefit the local automotive industry especially in the field of fuel saving, CO 2 reduction and car safety. Peter Pang also highlighted how Bosch localization of production and R&D are demonstrations of the companies' long-term commitment to China's Automotive Industry.
Technology Innovation from Bosch for “Less Fuel, Fewer Emissions and More Safety”
CIAPE, organized by the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) is the first international exposition of auto parts in China supported by the Central Government. The exposition attracted more than 1,000 international and local automotive components manufacturers.
As of November 29 th, 2007 Bosch will display advanced energy saving, clean and safe automotive technology under the theme “Less Fuel, Fewer Emissions and More Safety”. Modern clean diesel technology for instance provides high performance and improved fuel efficiency up to 30 percent allowing for a 25 percent reduction of CO2. Bosch second generation Direct Gasoline Injection technology can save fuel up to 15% compared with manifold gasoline injection systems. ESP improves vehicle safety buy reducing accidents fatality rate. Bosch will also highlight technology innovation for Chassis Control and Brake Systems, Automotive Electronics, Car Multimedia, Electrical Drives, Starters and Generators as well as products for the Automotive Aftermarket.
