Bosch increases investment in Central China
Groundbreaking ceremony for cutting-edge automotive logistics center in Changsha, Hunan Province
  • Additional investment of 4.3 million Euros
  • Reduction of transportation allows for energy saving


February 20 , 2008, Changsha – Today the Bosch Group began construction of a modern 4.3 million Euros logistic centre in Changsha, the capital city of Hunan province in Central China. The centre is built on a 10,000 square meters track of land and provides an increased productivity of the automotive logistic network in central China.

Using state-of-the-art technical processes, this centre will utilize 57 percent less land space as compared with similar facilities and will provide up to12,500 storage bins. Also, the new logistics center will reduce the amount of transportation needed in Changsha allowing for fuel saving up to 58 percent.

“The additional investment of 4.3 million in Changsha confirms Bosch's long-term commitment to China and its dedication to support the Chinese government in stimulating growth in Central China and to develop local industries,” Mr. Buehren Harald, General Manager of Bosch Automotive Products (Changsha) Co., Ltd., outlined the goal of the new logistics center at the groundbreaking ceremony, “After the completion of the logistics center, all automotive products to and from the Changsha site, including on-time delivery of production materials, will be coordinated by the new Bosch logistics center to achieve optimal efficiency, save resources and maximize customer satisfaction.”

Bosch started operations in Changsha in January, 2005 with a total investment of 60 million Euros up to 2008. Today, Bosch Changsha is the main operation site of Bosch Electrical Drives and Bosch Starters and Alternators in China. The site offers a full range of mechatronic components and body applications systems for the entire automotive industry in China. Those include motors for ABS, engine cooling, window lifting, blowers, wipers as well as wiper systems, starters and alternators.
