Beijing, 14 March 2008 ——International Forum on Chinese Wind Turbine Industry Development, organized by the Energy Research Institute under the National Development and Reform Commission and sponsored by Bosch Rexroth China, was held today in Beijing. Bosch Rexroth China supported the Energy Research Institute to carry out a research project to study the development of wind power turbine industry in China and overseas.
At the forum, industry experts and senior executives from global and local wind power manufacturers gave speeches and discussed the status of the current and future development of the global wind power industry. They also discussed the challenges and opportunities for the sustainable development of China's wind power equipment manufacturing industry.
Senior officials from the Energy Bureau attended the forum. Participants of the Bosch Group included Dr. Rudolf Colm, Member of the Bosch Board of Management responsible for the Asia Pacific region, Peter Pang, President of Bosch (China) Investment Ltd. and Theo Ramhorst, Managing Director and CEO of Bosch Rexroth in China.
Dr. Rudolf Colm said, “The stringent technical requirements of the wind power turbine industry have provided great opportunities for Bosch Rexroth, as a hi-tech precison component supplier to the industry.” Theo Ramhorst, CEO of Bosch Rexroth in China added, “Wind power is environment friendly, and can help to reduce CO2 emissions and mitigate climate changes. As one of the worldwide leading specialists in the field of drive and control technologies, Bosch Rexroth applies innovation to environmental protection. As early as the 1980s, Bosch Rexroth started the research and development of wind power component technology for the world’s wind power industry. Today the company has a wide range of component technology for wind turbines like gearboxes in varying sizes and compact pitch drives and yaw drives that allow the rotor blades or nacelle to adjust according to the force and the direction of the wind.
Bosch Rexroth is doing business in China for 30 years and has always supported the Chinese wind power industry. In 2007, Bosch Rexroth signed agreements with several local customers to provide whole sets of hydraulic power units for 1.25MW and 2.0 MW wind turbines as well as for long-term maintenance services for wind farms currently under construction in Laizhou, Shandong and Baiyun, Inner Mongolia. Also in the second half of the year 2007, Bosch Rexroth China started to expand its production base in Beijing in order to accelerate the localized manufacturing of its gearboxes products for wind turbines.
