June 25th, 2008, Chengdu – Bosch donated recently 11 million CNY for the rebuilding of two children schools in the area devastated by the earthquake of May 12th, 2008. This is the second donation announcement by Bosch; the previous donation of 2.5 million CNY was of equipment and of cash donation from Bosch legal entities and Bosch Joint Ventures in China. Bosch associates have also made cash donations of 1.75 million CNY. Including this donation by the Bosch associates, Bosch's total contribution to relief efforts and reconstructions programs for the people of Sichuan now stands at 15.25 million CNY.
Dr. Rudolf Colm, Member of the Board of Management of the Bosch Group responsible for the coordination of company activities in the Asia-Pacific region, met in Chengdu on June 23 rd with the Vice Governor of Sichuan Provincial Government Mr. Huang Xiaoxiang to present the donation. "Bosch associates around the world are in deep sympathy for the families and for the children affected by t he earthquake . We would like to extend our sincere condolences to the families of the victims,"said Dr. Colm. "Our efforts on rebuilding the schools are aimed to help the families affected by the earthquake to return to normal life as quickly as possible."
Straight after the earthquake, Bosch donated power tools worth 100,000 CNY to the Chengdu Public Security Fire Department earthquake rescue headquarters in Du Jiang Yan.
