- Economical – Clean – Powerful: modern diesel cars offer fuel economy, less emission, improved comfort and higher torque
- Chery’s first diesel passenger car Rely V5 brings economic benefits and enjoyable driving experience to customers in China
- Bosch is committed to serving China’s fast growing auto industry with its advanced clean diesel technology
Zhengzhou, September 8 – Rely V5 TDDi, was launched today by the leading Chinese automaker Chery Automobile Co. It is Chery’s first passenger car adopting Bosch’s clean diesel technology.
Rely V5 provides car drivers in cities with a new choice that would be suitable for both business and family uses. Combining Chery’s expertise in car manufacturing with Bosch’s latest common rail system (CRS), offers Chinese consumers with the most powerful and fuel efficient driving experience.
Compared to similar gasoline engines, diesel engines equipped with advanced Bosch technology save more than 30% fuel and reduce CO2 emissions by about 25%. Offering a torque level 50% higher than corresponding gasoline engines, such engines also enable faster acceleration without gear change and enhanced pulling power at low speeds, creating a more enjoyable driving experience.
Due to these environmental and economic benefits of the diesel technology, diesel passenger vehicles have already become widely used in international markets. In Western Europe, around 46% of newly registered passenger vehicles run on diesel fuel in the first half of year 2009, in France, the rate is as high as 72%.
“We are glad to see Rely V5 fitted with Bosch’s CRS, launched in the domestic market today,” said Dr. Maier, General Manager and Vice Chairman of the Board, Bosch Automotive Diesel Systems Co., Ltd. “We hope our clean diesel technology will help more domestic Chinese automakers to meet higher fuel efficiency and emission standards.”
The CRS was first developed by Bosch in the late 1990s, and has since then been implemented in millions of vehicles worldwide. In the Rely V5’s TDDi engine, Bosch’s 2nd generation CRS 2.0 is used, a cost-effective and reliable solution for passenger cars and light-duty vehicles.
“Rely is positioned as the high-end passenger car for both business and family uses. Supported with the world’s leading clean diesel technology from Bosch, Rely V5 will bring economic benefits as well as pleasant driving experience to its customers,” says Yang Bo, General Manager of QiLing Automobile Co.
To make use of the many benefits of clean diesel technology, an increasing number of domestic Chinese automakers have embraced the technology. During Auto Shanghai 2009, Chery, GWM, JMC, Huatai and Dong Feng Liuqi all exhibited their latest innovative models equipped with Bosch’s CRS.
With the rapid development of China’s economy and the Chinese government tightening vehicle emission standards, the number of diesel passenger vehicles will significantly increase in China over the next few years. Bosch is committed to continuously offer its best diesel solutions for China’s fast growing automobile industry.
