Bosch exhibits its latest localized innovations for "Clean, Safe and Economical"

  • Bosch supports the development of new energy vehicles in China

Beijing, September 24, 2009 – Bosch exhibits its advanced automotive technologies and solutions at the 3rd China International Auto Parts Expo (CIAPE) in Beijing. 11 Business Units of the Bosch Automotive Technology sector exhibited Bosch’s latest highly localized technologies and products offering clean, safe and economical solutions.

“We are very proud to consecutively participate in the all three tradeshows,” said Dr. Yudong Chen, Executive Vice President of Bosch (China) Investment Ltd, “CIAPE is an international pageant which established a very good technology and business platform for international and domestic auto parts enterprises.”

At Summit Forum, Bosch introduced its solution for electric vehicle and eco-friendly internal combustion

The CIAPE Summit Forum was held one day before the tradeshow opening. This forum attracted around 400 participants from the relevant government departments, international and domestic auto parts enterprises, and famous experts in Automotive Industry. During the forum, Dr. Yudong Chen addressed the speech to introduce Bosch’s innovations for electric vehicles and the consistent efforts in the area of clean and energy saving combustion engines.

Bosch has a wealth of experience in the new energy sector, including extensive know-how in battery, electric drive, and brakes as well as engine management and transmission control. In addition, the company has a wide range of components that can be used in both parallel and distributed hybrid systems, including powerful electric motors, power electronics, and DC/DC converters. “35 Bosch experts will be working in China to support our customers for the electric and hybrid projects by the end of this year, “said Dr. Yudong Chen.

Meanwhile, Dr. Chen also indicated that the traditional gasoline and diesel engines still have huge potential to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emission in the next 20 years. However, regardless of how cars are powered in the future, Bosch will not stop its innovation activities for safe driving.

Dr. Yudong Chen expressed,“ Bosch highly appreciates Chinese government’s quick response and effective stimulus plan for the China Automotive Industry’s recovery and long-term development. We would continually introduce our beneficial innovations to support the government’s agenda and OE customers for energy efficiency, emission reduction and vehicle safety.”

At Booth, Bosch exhibits its localization results for “Clean, Safe and Economical”

In the “clean and economical “area, Bosch showcases its highly localized gasoline direct injection GDI and Common Rail System CRS 1.3.

Combined the turbocharging technology, Bosch gasoline direct injection allows engines to deliver more power with reduced fuel consumption up to 15 percent compared to manifold injection systems. Through its joint venture, United Automotive Electronic Systems Co., Ltd., Bosch is gradually building up its local production capacity.

Cost-effective clean diesel solutions like CRS 1.3 were developed together with Weifu, specifically for Chinese market demands and well meet the cost requirement for passenger cars and light duty vehicles. CRS1.3 can meet CN3 emission standards and be easily upgraded to meet CN4. The high-pressure pump used in this system is the first Bosch CRS pump manufactured by Weifu.

In the “safe area”, Bosch exhibits its localized ESP® technology, airbag ECU and locally designed braking systems including braking actuation, foundation and AB10a Electronic Control Unit, which is tailor-made for the Chinese market aligned to global quality standards.
