New production milestones at Bosch Chassis Systems Control China:
1 million brake control systems and 2.5 million wheel speed sensors
  • Bosch Production System (BPS) leads to successful production localization
  • 1 million brake control systems and 2.5 millions wheel speed sensors produced in the first three quarters of 2009

Suzhou, October 2009 - To commemorate the production of 1 million electronic brake control units (ABS and ESP®), and 2.5 million wheel speed sensors in the first three quarters of 2009, Bosch Chassis Systems Control China will hold a celebration with its associates in the Suzhou plant in October. The accomplishment is a first for a single production year since the division’s establishment in 2002. “This great achievement is evidence of the development and growth of China’s automotive industry and confirms that our strategy ‘local for local’ has proven right.” said Mr. Ferdinando Sorrentino, Regional President of Bosch Chassis Systems Control China. The Antilock Braking System ABS ensures safe braking as it prevents the wheels from locking when braking hard. The Electronic Stability Program ESP® stabilizes the vehicle in critical skidding situations and can prevent up to 80 percent of all skidding accidents. A wheel speed sensor is a core component of any ABS or ESP® system and measures the rotational velocity of a wheel.

The Suzhou plant proves Bosch’s dedication to a “local for local” manufacturing strategy and to the production of locally designed equipment and tooling at international quality standards. The Bosch Production System (BPS) provides a high degree of flexibility and ensures maximum efficiency in the production process, which is a key factor to its great achievement. Local expertise at the plant is important as an increasing number of local car manufacturers develop their own specifications and demand customized functions for new vehicles.

The local production facilities allow Bosch Chassis Systems Control China to respond to the needs of clients swiftly and flexibly. “With the global Bosch support and the local production expertise, we are able to provide Chinese and international clients with superior quality products. That gives our customers as well as us a real competitive edge” said Norman Roth, Head of Manufacturing.
