Bosch supplies Clean Diesel technology to China’s truck segment
Bosch diesel enables Great Wall’s Wingle pickup to leap forward
  • Diesel is an ideal power train technology for pickup trucks
  • Clean diesel technology reduces fuel consumption and emission
  • CRS technology has already been tried and tested in millions of vehicles worldwide

Hainan, October 31 – Wingle was launched today by Great Wall Motor Co. at the Pick-up Culture Festival held in Bo’ao of Hainan. The Wingle’s Diesel engine is adopting Bosch’s clean diesel technology.

Pick up trucks are widely used by customers in China’s 2nd and 3rd tier cities to serve both family and business purposes. This segment is experiencing a stable growth due to China’s robust economic growth. In the first nine months of this year, pick up truck sales nationwide surged 22% year-on-year to exceed 1 million units, according to statistics released by China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.

Great Wall is the one of the largest pickup truck maker in China. Utilizing the chassis technology of global brands such as Toyota and Chevrolet, the Wingle is the first pickup truck made by a domestic Chinese automaker that has passed the European Union’s ELV certification.

By applying Bosch’s advanced clean diesel technology to its new Wingle model, Wingle, Great Wall has reinforced its position as the trend setter for pickup truck development on the domestic market. Combining Great Wall’s expertise in pickup truck manufacturing with Bosch’s common rail system (CRS), the CRS 2.0, Wingle offers Chinese consumers with the most powerful and fuel efficient driving experience.

In contrast to conventional systems that build up pressure for each injection individually, CRS decouples the fuel-pressure generation from the actual fuel-injection process. With this technology, high injection pressures are possible at low engine speeds, a fact which leads to a more complete combustion of the fuel. This equates to low emissions, better fuel economy, engine noise reduction and higher driving comfort.

The Wingle, equipped with Bosch’s CRS, not only reduce fuel consumption but also provide quite driving condition by noise reduction

“Thanks to China’s fast growing economy and its increasingly stringent vehicle emission standards, the number of diesel passenger vehicles will significantly increase in the country over the next few years.” said Dr. Maier, General Manager and Vice Chairman of the Board, Bosch Automotive Diesel Systems Co., Ltd. “Bosch is committed to continuously offer its best diesel solutions for China’s automobile industry.”

“We are proud to launch Wingle, the modern pickup truck model in China adopting Bosch’s clean diesel technology. Supported with this cutting-edge clean diesel technology, Wingle will bring economic benefits as well as pleasant driving experience to its customers,” says Mr. Liu Tongfu, Marketing Director of Great Wall Motor Co.

The CRS was first developed by Bosch, and has constantly developed to meet the worldwide most advanced emission standards and requirements. It has been applied into all different engine segments from light-duty to heavy-duty application as a cost-effective and reliable solution.

Attracted by its economic and social benefits, an increasing number of domestic Chinese automakers have embraced Bosch’s clean diesel technology, resulting in a number of market launches of attractive new vehicles in 2009.
