March 4, 2010, Hangzhou – Bosch Packaging Technology, one of the leading suppliers of holistic systems for packaging and process technology, recently completed the expansion of its Hangzhou plant. The expansion enables the plant to significantly increase its production capability and extend its product portfolio in China.
With an investment of 8 million RMB, Bosch Packaging Technology doubles its production area in Hangzhou plant to 9,000 sqm. Built in 2006, the plant provides products and services for the pharmaceutical, confectionary and food industries. Recently the product portfolio has been enlarged by Pure Steam Generators, Waterstills and Autoclaves.
“China is an important market for Bosch Packaging. Our future success depends on successful positioning in a growth market like China. Our sales in emerging markets generate around a quarter of total sales”, commented Mr. Klefenz, President of Bosch Packaging Technology. “We are the leading solution provider and we are continuously extending our product portfolio along the value chain of customers in the growth regions.”
“Since the establishment of Bosch Packaging Hangzhou in 2001, we have been consecutively increasing our presence in the market. In 2009, the number of our associates in China rose by 16%, and we are planning to increase our workforce by an additional 18% in 2010 to reach the associate number of 270”, promised Mr. Haecki, General Manager of Bosch Packaging Hangzhou.
Research and development are significant activities for Bosch’s Hangzhou plant. By taking account of the market needs in the region and incorporating innovative production principles from other Bosch units, the plant is positioned to deliver top quality products and services to customers. Moreover, it offers global expertise and the latest state of the art technology to local industries.
“80% of our customers are local Chinese companies. More than before, the expanded facility will enhance our local production and innovation capability” said Mr. Haecki. For the pharmaceutical industry, the company launched the high speed capsule filling machines GKF705, 1505 and 3005, and high speed vial filling lines with high speed cartoning for injectables. For the confectionary industry, the new products covered high capacity candy production lines, beaters, belt coaters and extruders.
“The expansion not only benefits to the local economic development in Hangzhou, but also helps us provide more contribution to the Chinese pharmaceutical industries and the country’s health system,” said Mr. Haecki.
Also in China, Bosch Packaging does not forget his social responsibility. A lot of charity activities have been organized locally since 2001. The yearly Orphan Day was designed to help the orphans at the age of 3 to 10 to live a normal life in their given environment. Other projects foster young talents by providing internships, training programs and career opportunities, especially for poor students.
