"I really want to have such classes every day" —— The PS/LOG-AP Department visits Zhenlong Primary School in Guangde City, Anhui Province.

On May 30, 2025, a heartwarming and meaningful volunteer teaching activity took place at Zhenlong Primary School in Guangde, Anhui Province. Nineteen volunteers from PS/LOG-AP department stepped into four classrooms, using their expertise and passion to build bridges of knowledge. As members of the Bosch China Volunteer Team, they leveraged their strengths to help students learn and practice spoken English through engaging games and interactive activities. With warm companionship and diverse lesson formats, they opened a window to a broader world for the children.

“The class was so much fun—I wish we could have it every day.” Just as the lively English games were reaching their peak, the school bell rang to signal the end of class. Unwilling to part, the children stood up and gathered around the volunteers, bidding them farewell with heartfelt reluctance.

On May 30, 2025, 19 volunteers from Bosch PS/LOG-AP department brought their knowledge and enthusiasm to Zhenlong Primary School in Guangde, Anhui Province. They stepped into four classrooms and delivered four 40-minute English lessons. From reading English booklets aloud and exploring storybooks to engaging in group game competitions, the variety of creative activities—paired with lively mini-games and group discussions—brought joyful energy to the classroom. The children were visibly excited throughout the lessons and still buzzing with enthusiasm even after the bell rang.

Founded in May 2000, Zhenlong Primary School is located on Wenzheng Road in Guangde, Xuancheng City, Anhui Province. As one of the earliest private schools offering compulsory education in the county, the school serves approximately 900 students across grades two to six, with around four classes per grade and 45 students per class. Many of the students’ parents work in distant cities in search of better income opportunities, leaving the children in the care of grandparents or other relatives.

The absence of parental care and the relative lack of educational resources have resulted in gaps in rural children's development—particularly in areas such as emotional growth, self-expression, and artistic exploration. Determined to make a difference, the volunteer team from PS/LOG-AP decided to bring their strengths into the classroom, exploring creative teaching methods to enrich the children’s learning experience.

“Then what happens to the frog?”

“Then what happens to the frog?” asked a volunteer, pointing to a picture of a frog on a swing projected on the screen. “Swinging!” the children chorused, confidently responding in English. With vivid expressions, enthusiastic gestures, and interactive questions, the volunteers quickly bridged the gap between teacher and student. Even the most reserved children joined in eagerly, no longer afraid to speak up. In just 40 minutes, the classrooms were filled with laughter, engagement, and collective learning.

Children who once hesitated to speak English now actively chat with visiting teachers. “I used to be nervous about speaking English,” one student said, “but now I really look forward to having more classes like this.” Volunteers introduced picture books, taught new vocabulary, corrected pronunciation, and encouraged every child to participate. Through diverse and playful group games, they turned language learning into an enjoyable and confidence-building experience. The integration of progressive teaching ideas and cross-cultural communication brought a sense of freshness and possibility to the classroom—so much so that children surrounded the volunteers afterward, reluctant to say goodbye and already asking when they’d return.

The children’s anticipation for a “next lesson” is not a distant hope—this volunteer teaching initiative is far from a one-time effort. The volunteer team from Bosch PS/LOG-AP understands that a single visit cannot address the root challenges faced by rural education. Looking ahead, volunteers will continue to dedicate their time and passion, carrying out regular teaching visits one to two times each year at the same school.

Through concrete actions, the team aims to deliver warmth and care while planting the seeds of social responsibility within the company. They believe that offering diverse courses and practicing compassionate companionship can not only open a window of opportunity for rural children but also inspire more kind-hearted individuals to join in and take part in meaningful, value-driven social initiatives.
